Rural Health: Beyond the City limits

Feb 26 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Our Patient and Community Voices workshop series invites you to a community-led, interprofessional workshop focused on rural health care from a lived experience perspective.

This session offers students the opportunity to explore the unique opportunities and challenges of rural health practice through stories shared by patient and community partners. Participants will reflect on the rewards of close community relationships and diverse professional roles, while also examining challenges such as isolation, limited resources, and overlapping personal and professional boundaries.

Through storytelling and interactive discussion, the workshop will explore how social determinants of health—including geography, culture, income, and access to transportation and technology—shape patient experiences and health outcomes in rural communities. Centering lived experience and community voice, participants will also share strategies to consider to support equity, patient-centred care, and professional well-being in rural practice.
